Shouldn't we do some blogsitting until Philipp has time to blog for us again? So anybody got any news? Remember: 80% Google.
Just read on Ionut's GoogleOS about the firefox extension of Google Gadgets in the Sidebar. Seems interesting: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2006/08/google-gadgets-in-your-firefox-sidebar.html

<<<Google continues to expand in Microsoft's backyard.

The Internet search giant, which opened a sales office in Fremont three months ago and a development center in Kirkland in 2004, is now taking a serious look at gobbling up nearly all of a 20-story office building under construction in downtown Bellevue.>>>

Bellevue, bleck. Bellevue has no culture. If I worked for Google up here in the PNW, I'd rather work in Seattle than Bellevue. However, if they are going for a lot of Microsoft employees, then Bellevue is probably closer to most of their homes. Also, the office space over there is probably cheaper.

Oh well, I guess it is good news if they are planning on hiring lots of new employees in the region.

Okay, I just RTFA.

"It was also unclear what Google's possible Bellevue expansion would mean for Seattle, where real estate sources said the company has been looking to buy Safeco's office tower in the University District."

It would be neat if they did that. That office building is literally right across the street from me and is about two blocks from the University of Washington. However, the building was constructed in, I believe, the 1970's, and might not suit Google. The Safeco building will eventually have a light rail stop at its entrance in less than 10 years.
