Google's employee numbers are roughly doubling every year. I'll call that "Browne's Law".

If Browne's Law continues unchecked, in less than 20 years Google will employ 9 billion people, more than the population of this planet.

Therefore, Google's growth is guaranteed to slow down, long before then. Or, Google will start recruiting Beowulf clusters of earthworms or something.

well, they hire only peoples who are as good or better in what they do than the guys they already got at google right?

so they can't just hire the whole earth population..

I know the Google Master Plan photos have been around for ages, but here's a new perspective.

Bear in mind that the master plan is seen by visitors, and Google has allowed people to photograph it. That led many to assume that it is not a real master plan. Indeed, when it first came to light the proposed "Portal" services seemed so outrageously ridiculous and totally unlikely that it was assumed to be nothing more than the results of a wild brainstorming session.

But now Google has released many of those services, and they keep coming. I reckon a more realistic interpretation of the master plan is that the green stuff in the top of the left-hand-side was the genuine master plan at some time – and what better way to keep a genuine master plan secret than to openly display it as a work of fiction?

On that basis, I won't be at all surprised when Google provides a grammar checker, or live ski reports. And I am really interested to know what was in the three green squares that have had their contents erased!

Of course, much of the other stuff ("Hire rogue scientists" etc) must have been added later as a joke. But the small neat green stuff I reckon is the genuine deal.

Robert Scoble sez that master plan got erased...

<< But, already new things are being drawn into the Master Plan 2.0. I didn’t have my still camera, but filmed it, will try to have that up soon. >>

Are the Google employees organized in an union?
