I think the Yahoo homepage is not so bad. I find that Yahoo.com is the fastest domain to respond that I know of. Whenever my cable modem is on the blink I test at Yahoo.com.

Why not use Google? Well I am often *at* Google. So I can't tell whether I am seeing cached pages etc.

The one from Google Watch is pretty neat. I wouldn't be for it personally but maybe if Google hosted one for testing like at start.google.com then they could see how many folks would actually use it. Maybe it would grow on me in time. I doubt it though.

Didn't we have this discussion not too long ago? Maybe I need some more sleep.

You are right Tony, that's a relief, I'm not loosing my mind. Back on topic...google wouldn't be google if they did, they'd be excite.

Google does have a Yahoo-like interface: http://www.google.com/ig

Well, kinda...they don't have enough good services to fill it up yet.

That wouldn't be bad as an alternate start page, if the ad was removed, and the "Featured" panel group was below the "Reader" panel group. Make it customizable, like Google IG, too, and I'd definitely show interest in it.
