Waiting on Google...

I miss that sensation when you hear of a new Google acquisition, or better yet, an exciting new product release!

They acquired MeasureMap almost a year ago, right? What's going on with that?

JotSpot?

Google Docs Offline?

Oldest of all, did Google not promise to bridge AIM and Gtalk when they partnered with AOL?

And what are they going to do with Dodgeball and Orkut? Those two could make a fine pair if they unified them.

I think they're still working on all these things and many other products, but for the visible Google they focus on improving the already released products and don't want to release other products very early, like they used to do.

Well that's apparently going to happen this year...

I know exactly what you mean, DPic. But rest assured, there's DEFINATELT going to be a new MeasureMap style product out this year; as well as Google Apps For Your Enterprise; as well as AIM on the Jabber network.

I think JotSpot is too early to tell – but probably GAFYD, or Google Docs. I'm not sure.

As for Dodgeball, i think that will stay where it is for a while, as they decided to open it up to registrations. It's current locations are too limited to integrate it with a more established product.

But I do agree – there needs to be a product release soon, otherwise I'm out of here! Not really.

Mambo it's right, integrating Dodgeball and Orkut will be cool but with Orkut having the user base mainly in Brazil and India, and Dodgeball being US-only it's a little hard.

Also I don't really see JotSpot and Orkut together... as JotSpot it's a more professional/office tool an Orkut has a more funny orientation. JotSpot fits more in GAFYD and D&S.

Well, JotSpot is apparently coming along. I just checked, and they recently posted on their blog that the latest update to JotSpot (v2.9) will be the last update before they finish moving to Google's infrastructure. So stay tuned for developments on that front!

Not sure about Measure Map. Their acquisition was nearly a year ago, according to the Google Blog post. Perhaps it'll come out with the next version of Blogger or something (whenever that comes)?

Tony's already commented (and linked) to the latest info on the Google-AIM deal, so I'll just say that I'm really looking forward to it. It'll at least give me that nice "new Google stuff" buzz/feeling, again. :)

I forgot completely about Neven Vision! I was so excited for that acquisition because Google Image Search could use a lot of help in my opinion. Accuracy could be increased so much with Neven Vison's technologies and they wouldn't need that silly Image Labeler game!

It would also be great for Picasa and Picasaweb, and eventually Orkut when they decide to fix that up.
