Well some researcher from Google by the name "Jones" gave an interview to Indian News Paper announcing their plans to Integrate Books & Maps.

The example he gave was:
When u see a word like "Mumbai" in a book, It will be clickable and will be linked to the Maps & satellite Images from Google Maps

It seems to work really well with guide books, you can see what areas they cover and jump straight to the bits you are interesed

Now they just need to add reverse look-up, so when you are in Maps you can search for books mentioning that location, or include book references in Map search results. That would actually be very useful.
