Is Google building the attention economy?

A blog post that talks about what Google could do with all that data they have about their users. If Google tied all of our habits from Gmail, Google Reader, Search, Video, etc they could start recommending new stuff for us to consume. What if they allowed us to transfer that data to private third party sites?

'What if?' is something we can always be asking. There are smaller ways Google can tie together data that would be useful and noninvasive and they're working on that but this would be a big step. Although they could do something like that, handing out the data is out of the question.
