Unfortunately it seems you can't share just the bits you want to using Picassa You can also step back up to the same user's public gallery (not sure if this is deliberate) oh well, it does seem to be getting better sharing, and the album layout & stuff's cool – imma |
Photo link picasaweb.google.com/USERID/ALBUM/ photo?authkey=KEY#PHOTOID
Album link picasaweb.google.com/USERID/ALBUM?authkey=KEY
Even without the link, it's easy to go from photo link to album link. |
Oh, comeon. Everything you put on the web just isn't private. picasaweb is a photo sharing site. Why would you upload private pics to it?? (For backup, you really have better solutions.)
This whole "unlisted" thing was, I think, a mistake from Google. They should have explicitly said from the beginning: "These photos aren't _private_. They are just not searchable from outside, and not listed in your public gallery." |
BTW what's that icon beside my name? Random generated, or it has a meaning? :-) |
I'm kinda using it as a convenient place to store my photos, so *i* can access them anywhere (well mostly anywhere) my home computer is kinda my backup ;)
re the icon thing (http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2007-01-31.html#n76), i think they were Identicons – icons generated to identify your posts visually
I'm not too bothered about my photo's being public, i'd prefer to be able to control which are & how connected to me/my other photos they are, not sure how useful others would find this *shrugs* |
Everytime I want to share a photo but not an album, I would create a new album and copy the photo there. Takes time, but there is not better way. |
> BTW what's that icon beside my name? Random generated, > or it has a meaning?
Icons here are manually picked or drawn, and this particular one is a vector that also spells a "v" from the Silk Set < http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/ >. If you have another icon idea please email me :) |
Share a photo but not an album? Send it by email. The photo, not the link. Duh... |
If you right click on the photo instead of clicking "share this photo" then you can just copy and paste the properties to share the photo with someone.
Doing this will share the photo without revealing the auth key. |
Well, I usually use this one: http://vedgar.googlepages.com/veky-icon.png , but the one you chose isn't bad. I just wanted to know if it has any connection with me, because it seemed "mathematical". :-) |
Now I want to know what Veky's original icon was (sorry to further derail the topic) |
It was the vector icon from the Creative Commons-licensed Fam Fam silk icons set:
