Yahoo! is closing their North American auction site on June 16th. This is not a world wide closure of their auction sites. Their world wide auction sites will still stay open.
"Yahoo attracted less than 0.2 percent of the U.S. traffic to auction sites during the week ended May 5 compared with nearly 85 percent for the longtime market leader eBay Inc., according to Hitwise."
With profits down, it seems that Yahoo! is finally shutting down some of its services. They announced recently that they will be shutting down Yahoo! Photos this year.

That is the right thing to do. They are in too many places without really any focus.
If I were the CEO, I would make a list of all their properties and arrange them by traffic of yahoo members and shut down the bottom 25% of services. |
I had never even heard of Yahoo Auction |
