It now shows that on the Gmail page.

Just wait some years, and you'll be able to send your favorite movie by email. Google rocks.

Never had a problem with the size of attachments, it's annoying that you can't send .exe, etc. file without renaming them.

In email, a binary file is expanded (due to encoding) and hence the size of the binary file and the one sent in mail are different. Hence the precise size depends on the encoding and attachment sent

Was that an answer to what Yahoo did about storage? I like Google's gift better because I haven't even used 50% of space but I was always in need of sending large attachments. Ya!! Google

Funny, I basically never needed bigger attachments, but always am hoping for bigger storage, because I regularly near the storage end and have to delete older mails...

Apparently Google thinks the bigger attachments are a big deal. My Gmail page says "New! Bigger Attachments at the top of the screen and it links to the What's New page. http://mail.google.com/mail/help/about_whatsnew.html

While it is a nice enhancement, I don't think it merits the big proclamation at the top of the page. Of course the previous item on the What's New page is Gmail Theater presents, though I don't think it was linked to from my main Gmail page for that upgrade. ;)

What exactly does that mean?

I'm guessing they mean that you won't be able to email a 20MB JPG or ZIP because they already use a compressed format. Or it could just depend on how the Google File System stores files...

I only use 46% of my storage

Picasaweb has also started allowing photo uploads of 20MB (up from 10MB).

Perhaps these do both indicate that Google's underlying file system infrastructure has had a significant upgrade.

It costs £14.99/yr for 'Windows Live Hotmail Plus' and all you get extra now is a gig of space as the attachment size was already 20MB. I can see a lot of people leaving that in the near future.

Storage space isnt really a problem with a free e-mail address as you can always just move all your e-mails to another account then delete them on your main one. The only problem is you'd have to log into two accounts to do a propper search.

20m指的是文件转化成流后的大小,对于不同的文件转化成流之后的大小是有差别的.

I don't think 20MB is that big a deal. Bigger than it was but I would like for them to at least double it again! I send much bigger files...or would like to at least!
