Strange, I can't get this to work?
"Place your cursor in the read- or write-pane and scroll your mousewheel up or down holding the CTRL-key." |
Philipp Lenssen | 18 years ago # |
Ah, I got it to work now! I added your tip, thanks! |

Tab works to switch between chat windows too, doesnt have to be ctrl tab |

clicking on the titlebar of an active chat window will make it "roll-up" (also note that another window docked to the bottom of a rolled-up window will slide with it when it's unrolled) |

Search??
What about searching msg history. I can't believe this has not been included!? |
notbeinguseful | 18 years ago # |
don't ask how I found this, but if you click in the main chat text and select some text:
ctrl+e = center justify ctrl+r = right justify ctrl+j = left justify
ctrl+1 = single space ctrl+2 = double space ctrl+5 = 1.5x space
ctrl+i = seems to have same effect as ctrl+tab shift+tab = same as ctrl+tab but reverse order
this is all very useless, but it's something to look at. also because it seems so useless, it makes me think this is built off of something else. if someone finds out what, there may be something more useful. |

Thanks for your tips.
I loved Google Talk the game more than the IM server and client. |

Anybody knows how to look at my history in GTalk?
|
Tony Ruscoe | 18 years ago # |
Sen,
You can either:
i) Click your friend's name to open the chat interface (previous chat histories are shown automatically)
Or:
ii) Open the actual text file that stores the history (although it's difficult to read as it's a URL encoded text file with lots of other parameters in it). Your chat logs can be found here (on Windows XP, at least):
C:Documents and Settings[windows-username]Local SettingsApplication DataGoogleGoogle Talkchatlogs

does anybody know how to remove your last name from google talk? |
YM | 18 years ago # |
jaras, I think that you have to change the way you display your name at Gmail first. Go to 'Settings', then go to the 'Accounts' tab and make the changes there. If this did not resolve your issue, just go to your profile at Google Account Settings and take out your real last name. Good luck! |

inku | 18 years ago # |
how can we change our display name in this new gtalk?? i checked out settings also...but theres no display name there... |
Sam Davyson | 18 years ago # |
Ahmed: win98 support will never come. Google havent released anything for Windows 98 for ages. To name a few things that work with Windows 2000/XP only:
Picasa, Google Desktop, Google Talk, Google Pack, Google Earth, Google Video Player, Google Toolbar (although it works for me on 98 it is not officially supported) and Blogger for Word.
inku: I dont think that you can change your display name in google talk. Thsi for me is certainlky a bonus! So you can tell who everyone is. If you want to change your display name you have to change the name in your gmail account settings. |

I'd like to use GTalk but I only have a Windows 98 which I don't want to upgrade because I find the later Windows versions more complicated |
NateDawg | 18 years ago # |
I would just stick to using the IM client inside of Gmail then. I only use gChat now and am quite satisified. Other than formating, there's not a whole lot more that you get with the stand alone client (in my opinion). |
Art-One | 18 years ago # |
Or you could use any jabber client... |
NateDawg | 18 years ago # |
That works too :) |
