New Google Blog

There’s a new Google blog around. It’s written by Stefanie Olsen from CNET, and apparently this is the (cryptic) home URL. The comments link didn’t work for me, the Permalink and RSS however did. This looks like a promising new Google news source. [Via UGW.]

MSN AdCenter

So I guess MSN AdCenter will be the place to bid for ads displayed next to MSN search result, AdWords style. I couldn’t find any way to sign-up yet, even though poking around in the HTML source revealed the page “/Passport/PassportPage.aspx” to sign-in with a Passport account (but it still didn’t work).

Recent Google Logos

There have been five recent Google celebration logos: France, Australia, Korea, Ireland (that is, St. Patrick’s Day), and Persia. [Via Dirson, Pierre, Theo.]

French News Organization Sues Google

“Agence France Presse has sued Google Inc., alleging the Web search leader includes AFP’s photos, news headlines and stories on its news site without permission.

The French news service is seeking damages of at least $17.5 million and an order barring Google News from displaying AFP photographs, news headlines or story leads, according to the suit filed on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. (...)

AFP sells subscriptions to its content and does not provide it free. Google News gathers photos and news stories from around the Web and posts them on its news site, which is free to users.”

I wonder, is Google News making “fair use”, and thus doesn’t infringe on AFP’s copyright? There’s some discussion on this on Slashdot.
