Gary Price pointed me to AOL Hi-Q Video, a Windows-based tool which downloads video content to your computer whenever it’s quite (i.e. it says it won’t interrupt your emailing, surfing and so on). AOL says you can choose from “movie previews, celebrity interviews, music videos, games tips and original AOL programming, with many at DVD quality.” I’d actually give this a try if not for my past experience with AOL bundle- and stickyware, which is nearly impossible to get rid of after installation and usually comes with a few surprises you didn’t ask for.
