While having GDrive enabled as part of Google Apps to store .doc, .ppt, and other Google Apps supported files, I guess my main interest in this is whether I can use a drag and drop interface and drop .mov, .zip, and .whatever_file_extension_I_have into a remote drive.
That would be cool.
Cheers,

Good find, even if this doesn't mean we get GDrive, it was good hunting. |

Thanks guys.
BTW, there's also a service called "Voice" which you can try to disable. Some of you might remember this being available in the sandbox last year:

unfortunately https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/example.com/AddService?serviceLabel=www10 does not seem to do anything but refresh the current page....
But who knows.. maybe in 24 hours I'll have Gdrive! ;) |
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
Travis, of course, I tried that too... ;-) |
TOMHTML | 16 years ago # |
"voice" isn't a part of GTalk? |
Luka | 16 years ago # |
As we say in frech : "Impressionnant! Bravo!"
I have a question for all of you. When you use Jotspot wiki, there is so kind of "drive" to put all files, pages and other stuf in the same place. Could it be the Gdrive of Google Apps ?
Travis Harris : nice idea, I hope it will work but I don't think so! Indeed if you can "disable" Gdrive, it meens that the service is allready active. |
TOMHTML | 16 years ago # |
Tony, what was your reaction when you see the word "GDrive" on your screen? |
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
TOMHTML: I think the exact words in my head were, "Holy shit!!!" |
James Xuan | 16 years ago # |
lol! great find Tony! This is what makes you an esteemed blogger |

So, what exactly is Gdrive? An outsider's guess.
A separate storage program that allows users to purchase storage chunks. These storage chunks can be accessed from Google Apps and other software. Want a video longer than 10 minutes on Youtube? Purchase some GDrive space. Want to host your family's videos, pictures, and discussion groups? Purchase a large chunk of space, sold at set packages with special rates or purchasable at variable sizes.
No? |

We actually think it's a place where you back up your computer, see; http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2006-10-13-n53.html and http://blogoscoped.com/files/platypus-help/help-windows.html |

How about https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/whatever.com/AddService?serviceLabel=www10 |
Ioannus de Verani | 16 years ago # |
Sorry. The main part of that url is .../AddService?serviceLabel=www10 |
Googlaxy | 16 years ago # |
Add this to the mix: www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain.com/ DisableService?service=jotspot |
Luka | 16 years ago # |
I have no more access to http://www10.google.com/ . I tried this afternoon : i had the login page, and now : nothing (white page / no source)
|
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
Googlaxy, that was kinda discussed here:
http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2007-09-03-n64.html
Luka, that's weird. They've obviously disabled the redirect. I'm now getting a 502 Bad Gateway response instead of the 302.
The login page still exists though:

GuillaumeB | 16 years ago # |
mmm – i uess i'll have to move to Google Apps once again damned!
i'm wondering if the free account will get it cause it'll obviously be a paid feature... |

Great work, Tony! GDrive with a Jotspot interface wouldn't be a bad idea for Google. |
Luka | 16 years ago # |
A reader of Zorgloob noticed the same for Jotspot...
https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/EXAMPLE.COM/DisableService?service=jotspot |
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
Luka, it works for all the service names that I listed on my page here:

Just tried it again and it didn't work – It worked this morning though. |
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
Update: And now Google has disabled the “DisableService” page for all services that you can’t yet add to your Google Apps account – which includes ah, cf, fensi, jotspot, sitemaps, videoonline, voice, www10 and youtube. The “DisableService” page does, however, still appear for the other services even if you have not yet added them to your account. |
