Wired's Betsy Schiffman reports that Google might have fired several Postini employees ("up to 60 people"). Google acquired this company earlier this year*. "Our source says that among techie circles, conventional wisdom is that if your company is bought by Google, you'll have to re-interview for your own job." http://blog.wired.com/business/2007/12/rumor-google-sw.html

that sounds pretty uncool for google but i wouldn't be too surprised if i found out that were true. How many employees did postini have before the acquisition? |
This happens with most company acquisitions. It stinks for the postini employees that might lose their job but it happens in business all the time. |
When a small tech company is bought, often it's bought for the people rather than for products that the company has already developed. So I guess an interview to cull those who don't suite Google's purposes is to be expected. |
I think Google bought Postini for the product, not for the people. |
