Will this mean I will get high res videos on the YouTube app on the iPhone? Because a lot of the videos look like crap on the phone. |
Aah I was waiting for this feature since long In general youtube quality was very bad. |
The new API options are even more exciting. |
There's Video Playback Quality setting on My Account page: http://www.youtube.com/video_quality_settings |

Here is the list from the YouTube blog:

is it right, that these highjer quality vid's are in H.264 ? I mean, the same version Like the Apple TV get's from YouTube ?
" about 162,000 from www.youtube.com for "watch this video in higher quality". (0.15 seconds) " |
Weird. Using that link, I got 256 results, then refreshed and got 1,950,000 results. |
With every refresh I'm getting different values ;)
|
yea i upload my own videos and i noticed the high quality option too..i googled it up and got nothing..it's nice to finally read something about it..thanks! |
You can do this manually on any video, if there's a higher quality version available, it'll get shown.
&fmt=18 is the key:

I actually find &fmt=6 better than &fmt=18..
I'm still wondering why not all videos don't get the "Watch this in high quality" option |
> I'm still wondering why not all videos don't get the "Watch this in > high quality" option
I guess not all videos have been uploaded / stored in a higher quality. |
Now the video quality option is available as general user preference in the settings page too: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/03/watch-youtube-videos-in-higher-quality.html |
it is available since Youtube blog has made it public. |
