Google is showing a custom logo because of the first laser aniversary! http://www.google.com/logos/laser08.gif |
Could have been better :( |
Looks almost real if you look at the path of the lasers. could be a achievable project |
HAHA excellent for the effort and $ i put in, im sure it was too for the people who didnt like it |
Thank You, Theodore (Ted) H. Maiman for creating the first laser!! Happy 48th anniversary of it too.
Now all we need is sharks with L A S E R beams on their heads. :p |
Forget the logo, Google need to concentrate on tidying up their Google Street View Maps – http://www.gofrostfire.com/acatalog/Prostitutes_On_Google_Maps_Street_View_.html |
Edit: I changed "in disco neon lights" to "in disco neon colors" to clarify the point I tried to made. |
This is in my Top 5 Favorite Google logos! (others include the Lego one and the normal one :D) |
Why does the "Google Search Results" link – take you to Blogoscoped.com? |
Thanks Avrohom, I corrected this now! |
Anybody who has to use Google's "Word Verification" requiring decryption of Google's increasingly unreadable text in order to enter it into the verification box, will be aware that somebody at Google doesn't care about legibility and just likes cute swooshes and swirls a lot. This logo looks like the "Word Verification" person went crazy playing "cat's cradle" with colored string |
Albin Forone: They're called "captchas", they're to protect you from spam (by preventing spammers from making accounts), and Google's hardly the only one to use them, so design issues aren't (solely) Google's fault. |
James: Why do you think those are prostitutes? They're just as (or more) likely to be people who happened to be on the street corner when the van passed by. |
That logo is sweet, but I don't understand why they put a gray background. It would be better without. |
It might be possible a white background does not offer enough contrast to make the light laser colors stand out and glow. |
The second g looks like an hourglass. |
They did make one little mistake. In the dutch version, launched in Belgium they had a spelling mistake in the search string when you clicked the logo. Google searched for "utivinding laser", but thanks to their own correction you came to "uitvinding laser".
Also an article on hln.be (in dutch): http://www.hln.be/hln/nl/958/Multimedia/article/detail/278534/2008/05/16/Utivinding-laser-Google-logo-misleidt-internetters.dhtml |
