Google testing new search feature

I have noticed new option in Google search result page – I can now sort the results either by relevance or sort the top results by date. However, this is not working for everyone, Google is probably just testing this on a few users.

Most likely, Google sorts by date the top (10? 100? 1000?) results, so the sorting is not very accurate. As usually, the date represents the first time when Googlebot noticed the page.

I think you'll get similar results from Google Blog Search and the date could be more accurate.

Hmmm, it appears that the parameter is &sortbydate=1 .

What is the method when sorting by date, when comparing to the Google Blog Search, it uses the timestamp when the blog entry is created.

They sort of already have the date feature when you use the advanced search options. But I guess that doesn't really sort the full date, just gives you results that fit into a certain date range.

Using the sortbydate=1 doesn't do anything for me on Google.com .
