Which IT sector is Google not involved in?Mathias Schindler | Thursday, December 10, 2009 14 years ago • 8,577 views |
It is harder and harder for me to spot an IT sector in which Google does not offer products and services. Can you think of any IT sector where there is no Google product (yet)? |

Franta: correct
Android Market has a section on Games. Google Chrome OS has several feature requests in the bug tracking system written by googlers that demand games.

Google is certainly involved in hardware:

Mathias your answer is not good. So, according to you, FedEx is involved in every physical domain, because it can ship everything. Right? |

Amazon is in the furniture industry if it sells furniture, even if it does not produce furniture. |
Mathias Schindler | 14 years ago # |
And to go a step further. If a furniture shop opens up at Amazon marketplace, doesn't this count as well? |

Mathias, Google does not sell porn.. like other XXX rated sites do. Period. Images and Video which are upload and indexed are not the property of google.. only the indices to the content is!! |

Google sells ads on porn sites. I reckon that makes them "involved in" the porn business, even though they're not behind the camera or in front of it. |

You want to see consumer hardware? Here's a small sampling:
Google Icon Vase Speaker: http://www.google-store.com/product_info.php?products_id=258
YouTube 2GB Flash Drive: http://www.google-store.com/product_info.php?products_id=1071

Roger OK you got me :P Although I searched for things like speakers on the Google store before I posted my first comment and it didn't find anything :/ |
Mrrix32 | 14 years ago # |
Ah, I was looking on the US site. Probably because I assumed there would be a wider selection of products. |
Roger Browne | 14 years ago # |
Actually Mrrix32 you are probably right, because these products are probably more "marketing trinket" than "consumer hardware".
I mean, surely no-one would pay as much as £12 for a 2GB flash drive. It's the YouTube logo they're really buying. |
Mathias Schindler | 14 years ago # |
Roger
In that case, they should sell a 0.1 Megabyte flash drive and use an auction tool to see how much people are willing to pay for. |
