While they are at it they should setup some sort of portable bookmark system that allows you to take your favorite websites with you wherever you can access your gmail account.

That would be very cool!

A simple work-around would be to just create an email containing all your favorite links and send it to yourself. The links would be "hot" and you could organize it however you want. Label it, and it would be easily found. The only problem is that it is not "editable" so if you want to update the list, you would have to copy it, paste it to a new message, and email it to yourself again.

Instead of sending it to yourself, save it as a draft. Then it IS editable.

Dan, you're describing http://del.icio.us/about/

(Though a google version of it could be interesting)

I see the Delete-Button since this morning. I'm in Austria, but have switched my gmail-language to english. I've missed this button a long time.

Phillip, if you are in search of an easier way to label, check out Mihai's "Gmail Macros" greasemonkey script at persistent.info:

Very cool and very efficient. Just type "g" and begin typing the name of a label to go to that label. Type "l" anod begin typing a label name to label all selected e-mails. (There are a couple of other great Gmail scripts mentioned at the above link as well. I'd recommend them all except "Label Colors" which seemed to repeatedly crash Firefox for me.)

Another great tool for portable bookmarks is A9 (using the A9 toolbar you can save the same way that you would with a browser). I use it and del icio us, A9 of course works better for bookmarks that I don't want to share (the ones related to terrorist activities and porn)

hmm they didn't actually put up the "new features" link (at least not in my acct) Maybe they want to wait until another feature comes out to post the link (!!!)?

I just got my delete button!! Woohoo!!

And about portable bookmarks? That is exactly why I signed up for a delicious account last month. I was tired of emailing links back and forth to myself. With the delicious extensions available in firefox, it is easier then bookmarking a site (and with the meta-data, much quicker).

It exists, and it's called "Search history". www.google.com/psearch .

Ye, I can create 100 new accounts but I can't extend my storage? This is not right...

100 new accounts, each with 2GB storage, and you need to extend the space you use? wow.

Just to expand on Veky's comment – you can use the personal search history to star items and add tags and a description, just like del.icio.us. It's just not as immediately usable.
