Encore ces vielles lunes! |
Once it is released, I will replace my suse, with no doubt. :)
Hopefully the news is true. |
What do you think will be the differences against a plain Ubuntu? Which addictions? A Google powered locate/updatedb ? A super uber leet Desktop Environment? A simple Gnome customization? I am curious about the consequences this action will have in the opensource word. Let's wait! |
The major problem I've had with all the linux dist I've tried is hardware support (especially with laptops). Let's see how it turns out, maybe it'll only work on their (likely evil) "googleputer" anyway :p |
Some say it is a misunderstanding as the Ubuntu community plans a Gnubuntu release.

Though Google supporting ubuntu would be great. I seriously doubt it for the trademarks issue. It should be Ubuntu Google Edition ou Google Linux/os But we've never seen goo-thingy names so far |
I quote a member of great french forum webrankinfo.com "Looool ls-lr... kill -9... good for my little sister :-) "
Yes, I don't think that Google is able to convert users to a new OS, it's not credible enough... Google's users are not ready for changing "deeply" their habits. |
"Goobuntu is our internal desktop distribution. It's awesome, but we're not going to be releasing it. Unless you work here it wouldn't work anyway. If you haven't tried ubuntu, you should, I have the regular one running on my laptop and it really is fantastic. I'd say it was debian done right if I wanted to start a debian flame war. Also, know that Google getting into the Red Hat business would be kind of dumb, and it would distract from our moon teleporter and cold fusion projects

I also got a statement from Google and updated the post. |
Rumours are so fast...
Tomorrow in NYT : "Google is launching Cold Fusion Bubble and Moon Teleporter!" :-D |
Did you have any thougths on the way Google alluded to new products on its earnings call? The transcript is up at http://internetstockblog.com/article/6351 ; as a google investor, I'd love to hear your views on it. |
