Sweet, I just added to my Google Reader. Tracking the lastest news...

I've searched all over. Nobody in the blogosphere seems to have posted about a way to have a link that inserts a calendar feed directly into your Google Calendar. For now, you just have to take the feed and add it yourself.

When you have a few events that last "all day" on the same day then does anyone know how they are ordered?

When I show/hide the Search Events calendar it seems to change the order from one random arrangement to another.

If anyone wants to continue researching how to contruct the "Subcribe to the Calendar with Google Calendar".. I've been sniffing the headers that Google Calendar sends when you add a calendar.

part 1 : http://www.google.com:80/calendar/editcallist
part 2 : http://www.google.com:80/calendar/caldetails
part 3 : http://www.google.com:80/calendar/load

It also passes a ton of parameters :

ewww, the above is gross. use http://php.net/wordwrap

and when i got my notification of this from phillip, it had this logo...
http://www.google.com/googlecalendar/images/logo_CL2.gif
really bizzare

Hey, Justin.

You can add a calendar using an URL like:

http://www.google.com/calendar/addcalendarfromurl?
curl=http%3A%2F%2Fical.mac.
com%2Fabyssonance%2FMadonna
32Tour322004.ics
&cimp=true&cpub=false&secid
={hidden value}

curl -> calendar address
secid -> you can get this value from a cookie set by Google

[ in Firefox search for secid in View Cookies].

You should concatenate the three-lines address.

You will get a page that says:
[['_ShowMessage','Calendar was imported successfully.'],['_AddNewPerson','Madonna Tour 2004' ....

You should go to Google Calendar or press Ctrl-F5 (refresh) if the calendar is loaded.

Ionut: Works here. What can you do about the secid if you wanted to make a general link?

Ionut Alex. Chitu [PersonRank 10]

Think about this:

I create a site that includes an iframe [width: 0, height:0] that goes to a link that directly adds a calendar to a user's calendar.

What if you visited such a site? Would you like to have 100 calendars from strangers? This would be Calendar spam.

That's why the security id should be included.

has anyone notices that you can "copy to my calendar" too ?? This is a neat function, I think, especially when collobartive mode

That logo is extremely cool. They've probably tested more logos, and different names for the service. CL2 would've been really geeky.

Another logo: http://www.google.com/calendar/images/logo.gif

Yes. Copy to my calendar is nice. I loaded the World Cup soccer schedule and copied the England games to my calendar.

I don't think the lack of a one-click add is a huge deal. Doesn't seem that different to copying the RSS feed from many sites and loading it manually into Google homepage or Google Reader.

But they certainly need to make the "Sharing Events" on your site easier. I wouldn't fancy going through this rigmarole every time. http://www.google.com/googlecalendar/event_publisher_guide.html

The CL2 logo was in the Agenda Email I received this morning....

I dont see a logo at all. I checked Phil's email w/all image displayed and there is no logo..

I am noting that the Events Calendar is feeding into and thru the webclips too.. it just popped up.

Is there an RSS feed to a Calender ?

via CL2 group =>> "share my calendar and make it public, but not have it
indexed by googlebot."

Indexed by googlebot. Is this logical ??

Gareth,

You might be interested in this alternative approach to creating Google Calendar "Reminder Buttons":

"Hack Three : 'Make Event Reminder Button' Bookmarklet"
<stuff.rancidbacon.com/google-c ...

With this new bookmarklet you no longer need to construct the reminder buttons by hand or reenter the information elsewhere.

P.S. Apologies for the dupe... :-)

Very cool! You've got pubcon in August when it's in November though.

I love that Phil and others are already finding neat things to do. :)

PubCon date is changed, thanks!

Thanks for all the feedback on an easier way to add public calendars. We're working on it.

Following up, in case anyone is reading. You can now easily publish a "one click add Google Calendar" URL.

Just find the feed address of your calendar (Settings->Calendars->Calendar name) and add it to the following URL:

http://www.google.com/calendar/render?cid=

e.g., to publish a link to the Search Events calendar, you could publish this URL behind a "remind me with Google Calendar" button:

http://www.google.com/calendar/render?cid=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fcalendar%2Ffeeds%2Fcmhmht8j8j3rp7qkon3q7080t8%40group.calendar.google.com%2Fpublic%2Fbasic

Note that the feed URL needs to be URLEncoded, so we've provided a handy encoder for you here at the bottom of the page http://www.google.com/googlecalendar/event_publisher_guide.html
