I got mine this morning.
You'll have to give me a few days to read it before I can comment though... ;-)

Hey Tony, yeah looking forwad to your comments!! |

Mine finally arrived yesterday!! :-)
I say 'finally' only because I was impatient. It was really pretty quick considering it's 'self-published.' I ordered it on 1 June and it arrived 12 June.
I've read through to page 62 so far, and have enjoyed (and learned from) every page. I'll come back with more comprehensive comments when I've finished reading, but it's great!
I do want to say now, though, how utterly impressed I am with the physical quality of the book; the text clarity, cover & binding quality, etc. As anxious as I was to read Philipp's text I was also anxious to observe the quality of a 'self-published' work from Lulu, and I am very, very impressed. This book is indistinguishable from something from a giant publishing house on the shelf of your local bookstore. |

Great! When you come back with more I'll add your comments to the Lulu reviews page. |

just got my copy yesterday – loved it! Even my wife has been reading it and she isn't really into Google herself.
Great job Philipp |

I was just browsing the PDF (thanks for making it available – great fun!), and noticed the following on page 36:
"It’s an online suppository where people can upload practically any data that has a structure."
Now, I'm not a native English speaker, but I'm pretty sure that that's supposed to be "repository"... :-) |
Philipp Lenssen | 18 years ago # |
Thanks Arnout, I'll add that to the list of corrections for a future version of the book. |

Philipp: I've just started reading, but already know it will be great!
BTW, I'm in the middle of my own book, also about Google! :-) Unfortunately, it will be published in Polish only... |

Great read so far. There's some neat tricks that I never thought to use. |

Cool, I just scored a 130; I guess that means I'm spending way to much time following google :P |

Poor Lawrence, his blog got a big spam problem... |
Ionut Alex. Chitu | 18 years ago # |
GooglePages spam. That's new. |
/pd | 18 years ago # |
yeah, that sucks.
I was attacked by the .r u folks with trackback spams last week.. It was a tidal wave of trackback spam and across the long weekend I was cleaning up. I now have posted disabled for Trackbacks.. that sucks too as the blog becomes blind sided and I have to resort to manual methods for tracking

Looks like someone converted the book to HTML:

Good job, but Grimme ought to add character encoding... I get lots of missing chars on every page! |

I just got it last night and read the introduction before going to bed. I love the term "instant knowledge" you used in the third paragraph, which exactly matches what I feel about Google, is it you who coined this term? Just curious. Thank you for your generous effort. This is the first book I will go through for the coming month.

Philipp Lenssen | 18 years ago # |
I suppose the term was around, but I'm not sure! Hope you enjoy the book. |
/pd | 18 years ago # |
yeah yeah.. "instant knowledge" is Philipps terms!!

I tried "Bemmu's Cure for Google Irritation" and it only CAUSED irritation. A giant 404 error image is coming up over the game--probably a problem in the bemmu cafepress ad meant to be below the game? |
