Yikes! Someone hire that guy quick.
Many of the features are "unimplemented" but it is very nice. |

Wow, Philipp, you're a real artist too!
This is the best I get :P ...

Interesting that is forbidden for me. Can you see it? |

Picasaweb is really bad for linking...
Here an other try... http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m60/kvanloo/screenshots/gpaint.jpg

Hotlinking doesn't work on PWA.
Copy the URL in address bar (or mail yourself the image to get the direct link to the image). |

How /would/ Google benefit? |

It's a good effort but would have been quite simple to do really, especially since most of the features aren't yet implemented – i.e. save, import, fill, select, etc. They would make it much more impressive.
However, Stuart (the author) seriously needs to either post a notice saying it's unofficial / parody / proof of concept or simply change the logo, otherwise Google will try to get it pulled down – especially since it's on Google Pages!
Of course, if he did exactly the same thing but without any of the Google branding, nobody would even bat an eyelid...
(BTW, it's Firefox only.)

Right now, it's not so much different from existing canvas painter : http://caimansys.com/painter/index.html |

That's cool! I don't have time to try right now. |
Art-One | 18 years ago # |
Ionut: I know, but I thought I had found an easier way... Will use photobucket from now on :( |

The canvas painter is much better. But I'd like to export the animated "making of". |

Art-One for free/easy image hosting I would go for http://allyoucanupload.com. For something better Flickr is the answer. |

...because what the world needs is another Microsoft knockoff Paint program – now better because it's in a browser. Concept is neat though. |

How is this different from MSPaint? It has the same, exact UI?? |

Bringing something like Photoshop or Photopaint to the web might be nice. This is less than even MS Paint, just a little more than a screenshot.
Talking about unofficial prototypes... Harrison K. sent in this:

Nice :-)
BTW, you've all heard about widgets in Opera 9, right? Check this out: http://widgets.opera.com/widget/4647 |

He added a little message box saying it was just a parody. |
Marek Möhling | 18 years ago # |
Actually, it's Firefox 1.5+ / Safari only, based on Apple's <canvas> implemented in Safari. cf. http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Drawing_Graphics_with_Canvas |

They guy could use the canvas wrapper a Google engineer came up with (but yeah, it was just a simple prototype): http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2006-03-30-n78.html |

Maya or 3D Studio Max on Firefox ?, I'll take that!
Maybe by 2010-2015 we can see these apps grow like mushrooms in the Web 4.0 bubble. |

It keeps giving me message boxes saying Unimplemented whenever I click anything. |
Aaron Myers | 18 years ago # |
Jake – those are features that are unimplemented meaning that they don't work. I believe he created the site just showing what it would look like.
Not sure though. |
James Bradbury | 18 years ago # |
Why Maya? Google already owns Sketchup and they do similar things. |

Very funny indeed, I'm waiting to see Google Paint soon =) |

Sam: thanks for the tip! Flickr is good indeed but a bit limited in bandwith capacity for me ;-) |

TinyImage's best-of gallery is impressive... |

Art-One: Hope you enjoyed it.
Philipp Lenssen: I need to add some comment feature and ask you to make use of it – artists on tinyimage must love to hear from you :) |
