Definitely not a way to pay money for faster Google crawling.

I really really hope it's not Yahoo Express:

<<Our crawl process is algorithmic; computer programs determine which sites to crawl, how often, and how many pages to fetch from each site. We don't accept payment to crawl a site more frequently.>>

<<Inclusion in Google's search results is free and easy; you don't even need to submit your site to Google. Google is a fully automated search engine that uses software known as "spiders" to crawl the web on a regular basis and find sites to add to our index. In fact, the vast majority of sites listed in our results aren't manually submitted for inclusion, but found and added automatically when our spiders crawl the web.>>

It could be not a brand new product but a sign of the expansion (including paid support and the implementation of Docs & Spreadsheets) into GAFYD: perhaps they're getting ready to promote the service further.

It's pretty obvious; They're launching a pre-emptive strike on SEO domain purchasers before launching a new, slightly more devious (And possibly more graphical...) sponsored-links/advertising system.

Or "OnGoogle" = "GoogleLife"?

meh.

They better not change the name of YouTube. that would be a HUGE mistake. but perhaps it's a merger of Google Video and YouTube more closely on the Google Video side.

Google Express: maybe Checkout out of beta? GDrive?
Who knows anymore :P

Good point about google-express, Conor. Checkout would make sense...

I'm sure it has something to do with http://cangooglehearme.com/ – This kid had an idea that he wanted to present tp Google. Problem was, he couldn't get an appointment so he did some extreme things to catch their attention.

Best of all, it actually worked! :D

I doubt it's related

Probably Google going to overtake the SEO industry.

My guess is that "Get on Google" is a new all in one type wizard to help people switch from existing products to Google ones.

Yahoo Mail to Gmail.
Microsoft Word to Google Docs
Flickr to Picasa
Yahoo Groups or a Traditional Forum to Google Groups

I admittedly find myself using Google products as opposed to other better products because of the integration. And I also trust that Google is going to be around for the next 5 years, as opposed a 1 or 2 year old startup. (I am actually interning for a startup and from seeing the behind the scenes, I can tell you that what appears to be a decently successful service can go offline just like that, the rule of thumb is of course, always backup!)

More Stupid Unnecessary Domain Names [tm] for stuff that could be done fine with logical subdomains of google.com...

Philipp Lenssen [PersonRank 10]

Dan, I think Google always does both (create a new domain to then forward it to the subdomain), both to prevent others from putting conflicting content on those domains, as well as for people who enter e.g. "adsense.com" out of laziness or forgetfulness.

Mr. Lasnik sez:

<<I work for Google and I've seen this sort of confusion before so I figured I'd set the record straight.

Often times, folks register domain names with Google in them... occasionally just on a lark. And frequently they end up ultimately giving the domains to Google.

So just because you see something like GoogleTeleportation does not prove that we're trying to take on the travel industry, for instance. A Star Trek fan may have registered the domain, then later transferred it to us and we're stuck with it... at least for the year :-).>>
