For non-english users, translate is a basic tool for us. It's been there before Gmail

Why not let www.google.com/translate be more customizable. I only use Spanish->English, English->Spanish but I see the full list of languages

Another good feature would be AJAX like translate

Haochi Chen made a unofficial API of Google Translate, it was great

BTW, it would be nice if google set a cookie to remember what was the last translation made. I often do translations French->English, but each time I go on Google translate, the listbox is set by default on Spanish->English... Hablo espaƱol muy bien BTW ^^ But it's annoying to have to select each time the good translation mode... :-/

http://www.FreeTranslation.com does exactly that... ;-)

(Disclaimer: I work for SDL)

It used to be French->English by default, but then it changed to Spanish->English all a sudden...

I was thinking about that... I only use spanish-english and english-spanish, and it would be very nice to select fast what I want, and use AJAX.
Right now it's ugly, but it works.
