Amnesty International Campaign Against Censorship

Amnesty International has launched a new campaign, Irrepressible.info, against people being imprisoned for sharing information, censorship of blogs, and censorship of search results. You are urged to sign a pledge and also undermine censorship by mirroring censored content on your own site (surely that needs the permission of the copyright holder, unless the content is freely licensed?). There are also tips on how to pressure companies and governments to keep information free. AI says:

The Internet is a new frontier in the struggle for human rights. Governments – with the help of some of the biggest IT companies in the world – are cracking down on freedom of expression.

On a related topic, there are news reports coming in that the blocking of blog networks in India has been reverted. Peter Dawson has more. Can anyone from India confirm that Google’s Blogspot domain can be reached again?

Also see a list of words returning censored Google results in China, and a list of sites Google agreed to censor in Germany and France.
