Google Maps for Treo

Google Maps is now available in a special mobile version for the Palm Treo. While mobile versions of Maps have been around (including a – sigh – unusable one for my MDA Vario with Windows Mobile 5.0), Google says this one “is the fastest, slickest version yet, with draggable maps and translucent pop-up balloons that don’t hide the map.” Anyone with a Treo around who can share some first impressions?

Google Music Videos?

Google says their partnership with Sony and Warner now allows them to “bring thousands of music videos to Google Video via free, ad-supported on-demand streams.” I demanded a video, and all I get back is “The video is currently not available. Please try again later.” Does it work in the US?

Blogspot Was Down

Blogger.com and Blogspot.com were down & out earlier today according to different reports. (Outage at Blogspot.com, where many to most Blogger blogs are hosted – including the official Google blog – means that millions of pages will be unreachable.) The Israel tech blog Nana.co.il claims this is the work of hackers – it wouldn’t have been the first time this week – but I don’t know if that’s the case.

[Thanks Hermon and Tony Ruscoe.]

Update: Google says, “Blogger and Blogspot was down between 5:30 and 7:30 PST this morning due to a network malfunction.” [Thanks TomHTML!]
