The Bourne Ultimatum Google Tie-in Follow-up (View post)TOMHTML | Thursday, June 28, 2007 17 years ago • 7,394 views |
Ah ah, I read the French translation it's funny. No mistake, but they talk like a robot, word-by-word translation... ^^ Thank you Colin |

Funny that 5 other websites are ahead of the Bourne web properties when searching "BOURNE" on Google. |
Colin Colehour | 17 years ago # |
Jaan – Thats probably because the movie sites and the new game site are all Flash. They should have a text version of the site to help get the site indexed better. |
Jaan Kanellis | 17 years ago # |
True Colin, but 5 imbd and wiki pages ahead of what your looking for? Nice job Google. |
Colin Colehour | 17 years ago # |
There is now a Google Gadget for the game. It only has a trailer because the game doesn't start until next week.
Description on the Gadget page: << Track Jason Bourne across three continents in the ultimate mission. Stay up to date with the agent gadget for daily updates, score tracking and more. >>

Add it to your iGoogle page: http://www.google.com/ig/adde?moduleurl=http://www.searchforbourne.com/gadget.xml&source=bius

The Search Starts With joe?
Does this mean Game On?
|
Colin Colehour | 17 years ago # |
A refresh and its back to the first screenshot about the search starting on July 16th. |
James Xuan | 17 years ago # |
On 14th of July, whenn I was looking for Bastillle day logos, at the bottom of the search was a link about this starting. I didn't click it |
TOMHTML | 17 years ago # |
it works now hey, we have to log in at https://www.google.com/accounts/saml... ? |
Martin Porcheron | 17 years ago # |
When I try logging in I get taken to the Bourne Ultimatum website, which is written in Flash, the Flash somehow gets corrupted and crashes my browser (both Firefox and IE) |
Daniel Garcia | 17 years ago # |
When I try to www.searchforbourne.com I get:
Sorry, but THE ULTIMATE SEARCH FOR BOURNE cannot be undertaken in Linux. |
Tony Ruscoe | 17 years ago # |
TOMHTML, it seems that's the URL for SAML-based Single Sign-On (SSO) process used by Google Accounts. |
Tony Ruscoe | 17 years ago # |
BTW, the localization sucks. If you pick your country as UK, the registration form still defaults the country to "United States" and uses US date formatting. Also, the link to the official rules is broken because they include the country folder:
http://www.searchforbourne.com/uk/html/officialrules.php?country=uk
Should be:
http://www.searchforbourne.com/html/officialrules.php?country=uk
I think they need a new QA team.
And the prizes for the UK are crap compared to the US ones:
US: http://www.searchforbourne.com/html/prizes.php?country=us UK: http://www.searchforbourne.com/html/prizes.php?country=uk |

Thank you Tony. Here my browser doesn't crash but I doesn't get exactly the same on IE and Firefox :-/ For example I can't select marker on Google Maps map at the bottom of the page, I also can't click on the number bellow the image "01" http://www.searchforbourne.com/media/photos/en/target_bourne.jpg

I was able to complete the mission, but I can't place a camera on the surveillance map like it says to. I see a map and can pan it around, but I can't do anything except zoom into it.
This is in both IE and Firefox. Has anyone gotten it to work? |
Tony Ruscoe | 17 years ago # |
Niraj, I'm not even seeing a map; just a looped clip of Bourne in Paris instead. I just tried on a different PC and when I reload it shows the Google Maps UI for a split second and then goes to the looped clip again.
Both cams-available and cams-selected are showing zero. |
Niraj Sanghvi | 17 years ago # |
Tony, I originally had that problem. Then I went to the iGoogle gadget and clicked on the "Missions" button, and somehow when I logged in that way I got the map. Before that I was seeing the looped Bourne clip too.
Looks like they didn't really work the bugs out of this game before release, which is kind of surprising. |
Tony Ruscoe | 17 years ago # |
BTW, I can see that the site is downloading loads of images from a kh*.google.com address, so it must be loading the map tiles.
Neither the gadget nor the site are keeping me signed in. Is that normal?
This really does seem to be very buggy. |
TOMHTML | 17 years ago # |
I'm never kept signed in too :-/ And I almost loose the first mission because many message are badly translated :-S
At the end, the message said that I would be able to select a video camera on the map. Problem: there is no map. Just as Tony. |
Tony Ruscoe | 17 years ago # |
Update: the gadget appears to keep me signed in now. |
Flatland | 17 years ago # |
Well, they really blew the piss on this one. The website is full of flaws and bad coding. Too bad, cause I was really looking forward to this game. Hope they fix it soon. |

They've updated the game (as Tony said above) and I now longer have a browser-crashing experience. In fact, the first task is overly easy, although I can only play – I can't enter the competition (too young :( ) |

Day 2 mission is available....
I failed to copy the text and now I cant answer the question. |
TOMHTML | 17 years ago # |
Google Accounts: SAML exception: IDP error: com.google.gaia.client.GaiaRemoteException: Backend not available
Ok... |
Tony Ruscoe | 17 years ago # |
Completed Day 2, selected my surveillance camera and clicked the Save button. When I reload the page, both cams-available and cams-selected are showing zero again... <sigh> |
TOMHTML | 17 years ago # |
I was proud to announce you that I've discovered that "saml" is the name of a "new service", but Tony you added it yesterday :-/
BTW, I have been able to complete mission #2, but I have a lot of difficulties to complete forms, CTRL+C or +V doesn't work, just as selecting the text...
((Tony, I see you subscribed to "other agent" videos on Youtube ;-])) |
Colin Colehour | 17 years ago # |
I'm on a Mac using Firefox 2.0 and I've had a few bits of trouble with the site. First off, it never loads 100% on the first try. I get the flash progress bar about a third of the way and it just sits that way for over several minutes before I get fed up and hit reload.
Also, the cameras on the bottom right are seen on a map when I first load the site but then turn into a video of bourne crossing the street. No more map after that. Is that intended? |
Niraj Sanghvi | 16 years ago # |
Talk about frustrating...now I not only have the surveillance camera difficulty, but it tells me I am not registered! I though it was a "one-time" registration? And I tried registering again and going back to the page, and it *still* says I am not registered. Fantastic. |
