"embed an animated street view rotation"
Can anyone make this work in the latest beta of Firefox 3? |
"We have expanded our coverage in 6 of our existing cities. " WHICH ONES? |
Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and the San Francisco Bay Area according to http://www.gearthblog.com/blog/archives/2008/03/new_open_source_libkml_new_street_v.html
They've certainly expanded on the SF Bay Area – my house is on there now although the resolution of the new footage seems much lower than the older stuff. |
(Thanks, I added an update!) |
There is no option to switch the "streetview little guy" icon. Hope that becomes available soon. |
Because I want a race car or a UFO instead. |
Neat, my house is now on Streetview too!
Though I agree the new footage is much lower-res. Could this be intentional? (Lower cost *and* less privacy concerns.) |
YES! They added Spokane. Neighbor snooping it is. |
That's Stuttgart, Arkansas. |
it was a joke, Ionut.
There is also St-Petersburg... not in Russia, but in Florida (not so cold) |
Josue –
The street view guy icon is not hard-coded into the API at all. Check out this example: http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/streetview/streetview_layer.html
All you need to do is create your own icon and replace the GIcon/setImage code in there. Have fun!

I am so waiting for Columbus because I have ABSOLUTELY no sense of direction (if you tell me to turn right, I will go left – sometimes) and that the GPS I have totally sucks. Having street view will help me a whole lot because having a visual image of where I am going is, well, better & safer. *sigh* |
