When viewed in any other browser, the page displays the following:
Internet Explorer 7 (and IE 8 in Compatibility Mode): But you'll never find it using Windows Internet Explorer 7.
Internet Explorer 6: But you'll never find it using Windows Internet Explorer 6.
Opera 9.6 (and IE 5.5): But you'll never find it using that browser. (So get rid of it, or get lost.)
Firefox 3.0: But you'll never find it using old Firefox 3.0. (So get rid of it, or get lost.)
Chrome: But you'll never find it using tarnished Chrome. (So get rid of it, or get lost.)

Admittedly I verbally attack IE almost every day, but not exactly a good thing for a company to attack it's competitors like that :/ Seems childish. |
An other marketing effort from Microsoft for Internet Explorer 8: http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windowsexperience/archive/2009/06/10/download-internet-explorer-8-amp-help-fight-hunger.aspx
"For every completed download of Internet Explorer 8 through the Browser for the Better website, we will donate the financial equivalent of 8 meals to Feeding America’s network of 206 local food banks. " |
Each completed download? Do they mean unique download or just any download? Also don't mention having to install it :P
*Downloads thousands of copies of IE*.....*Deletes thousands of copies of IE* |
They give 14c to charity on one side, an 10,000 on the other |
And what the: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/get-the-facts/browser-comparison.aspx
What are they talking about, does that mean if you can't beat them, then make lies... Apparently, ie is far more boring, tarnished and old than any other web browsers imHo. :) |
JEShack: wow, that's an incredible page you linked to. The "mythbusting" tab on that page is also interesting.
That page is a perfect example of what we in the UK call "spin". It won't convince people who take the time to check it out for themselves, but it will make IE users feel more comfortable with their choice of browser.
But if Microsoft can convince existing IE6 users to upgrade to IE8, I'll be more than happy. It will make my web development work so much easier if I don't have to care about IE6. (Already I've given up on IE6 support on one of my sites.)
|
"Microsoft® is donating $1.15 per download to Feeding America® up to a maximum of $1,000,000."
(so 8 meals = $1.15)
It's just a marketing trick. They could easily donate $1,000,000 irrespective of the number of IE downloads. |

The editing and wording f this video makes me cry :(Especially the last line
"So, Internet explorer IS fast like other browsers" |
James: >"editing" (hehe)
Well, give me all the links from other reviewers that conducted the same thang and let's slap it to ms face. >:)
oh yeah, the link is real www.tengrandisburiedthere.com; not to be confused with tengrandisburiedhere at http://www.microsoft.com/australia/ie8/competition/
|
Weirdly, unlike the (parody?) site mentioned above, the actual domain mentioned in the logo of the real contest page, tengrandisburiedhere.com, fails to resolve at all for me. |
It looks like the winning page has already been found... or has it? :-) http://www.tengrandburiedhere.com/winner.html |
