All designs are horrible. Maybe except #3, but that doesn't give you any hint about the theme. His visitors would hit "back" button seeing this scary and unclever logos. The designers took the expression literally and that's a bad idea.

But I can't blame them from taking it literally. That's definitely what the brief appears to suggest.

I agree. If I had to choose, I'd choose #1 or 4.

Sam Davyson [PersonRank 10]

I quite like number 2 again.

I like #5

Leszek [PersonRank 1]

I like #1 best

Longinus [PersonRank 1]

I like #1 :)

#2 is probably best, but #6 gets the point across. I would have though that they would have understood what he was looking for with the line "breaking ones head", rather than the literal breaking or exploding of the physical head.

I say #5

Do you guys think I should get Logoworks to design the logo for http://www.openyard.com??

Philipp Lenssen [PersonRank 10]

Justin, will you show us the logo concepts?

BTW, of the current logos I love #1, and don't really like the rest, mostly due to the misunderstanding resulting in literally "broken heads". It's partly my fault as I did not ask Tiago for reference URLs of logos that look like what he wants (I mean, I did ask in the original post, but I didn't make it mandatory).

Mambo [PersonRank 10]

At first, I would say #1 because it's quite funny.

BUT, I think #2 (final answer) has more potential for other designs across the site (e.g. the same guy doing other things on different pages...)

Travis Harris [PersonRank 10]

Well, I don't much care for any of them. 5 is what I think is closest. I too would have taken the breaking head literally... I don't blame them, that is a hard concept to work with!

Jake's View [PersonRank 10]

It is. Still, I like #2 the best.

2,1 and 5 in that order of preference :)-

Hi all!

Thanks all for the comments! I think that the got the idea, even with the "wrong" description I made...

So, I talked to my brother and we liked the mix of the logo #1 and #2...

http://rachacuca.com.br/logos/rachacuca.png

We thought that the logo´ll be more nice if they made the "guy hitting table" more explicit, because first thing that come to my mind(and my brother´s too) is that the guy is "biting" the table, rather that hitting it...

What do you think??

Any comments or sugestions will be great appreciated,
Thanks again,
Tiago Serafim

Always ask ask ask questions of clients, especially where a potential language barrier might come in. It's your job to understand what they need before dedicating resources.

Frog29 [PersonRank 1]

It seems to me as if it's a bit too bloody, like someone else said.
And it does sorta look like biting the table.

Longinus [PersonRank 1]

I think Mambo is right.
The "guy hitting the table" idea results more versatile and can be used in other sections of the same site.
And..yes, the text of #1 solution is better IMHO

:)

I think you've got a winner with the #1 & #2 combo. Matching the font you already have is great, and using an actual puzzle in the design I believe is key to conveying your mission.

I'd give all of the logos presented an "A" for effort.

"at do you think??"

Move the head slightly down to bring the forehead directly on the table.. slam kinda thing..... w/ eyeballs popping out as in dummy copy#4(?)!! :)-

Tiago,

very nice work on mixing the two logos. And good advice from you too! ;-)

You hit the nail on the head (or in this case, the head on the nail)

"Rack your brains" is the correct translation.

So, how much did they pay you to put this spam on your blog Phillip? ... I'm saddened....

Nice try at starting a conspiracy theory, Achille :)

all are bad.
i choose #4 if i have to choose one

Trogdor [PersonRank 6]

Trogdor burninates #'s 5 and 2 ... 1 is pretty fun, and 3 & 4 probably fit the metaphor better ... so if I can rank which I like, it's 1, then 3, then 4 ... and if I can only choose one ... either 3 or 4, as they're simpler while still elegantly giving meaning.

Trogdor [PersonRank 6]

Oh yeah, forgot. 6 is pretty good too. So ... 3, then 6, then 1, then 4 ... and I'd probably stick with 3, still, although 1 & 6 are playful ...
