If they use RSS feed to gather a news from the source site, it could be that there was an error in RSS parser ([put at-character here]Google side) or in RSS source itself ([put at-character here]Source-site side).

PS: Did you know, that there is a limit RSS file cannot exceed? (according to the specification). So, if source-site generates too large RSS file, probably it won't be indexed or at least it will crash during RSS validation.

They should parse the RSS. But probably they'll get the news slower in this case.

I know that Google News team is working on a kind of "console" where the webmasters of the "sources" sites could be avoid this problem and others... ;-)

and no, Google news doesn't use RSS feeds, their bot only check the home page of a site (or its heading "news").
