1TB Gmail AccountsJames Xuan ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | Thursday, June 14, 2007 18 years ago • 5,311 views |
I learned of a rumor at http://dailybuzz.mobuzz.tv that Gmail may start suppling 1 Terabyte accounts. Usually mobuzzTV isn't one to spread rumors so I'm guessing it's kinda credable. The story links to a spannish site so here is the translated link http://fon.gs/1tbgmailaccounts . I'm hoping this isn't true because then it will equal my new computer coming on Wednesday., which I'll post shots of when it arrives |

Maybe the Press Day on June 19th will reveal more? |

1 Terabyte < Unlimited, so why not go for Unlimited? |
James Xuan ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 18 years ago # |
Because Unlimited always have Fair Use Policies and are just there to make the product seem better. |

> Press Day? Where can I learn more?
Stay tuned on late Monday, and especially Tuesday from early morning to afternoon... Tony Ruscoe will be in Paris and I will be covering it from Germany. Marissa Mayer, Eric Schmidt & the YouTube founders are expected to be there. |

<<James Xuan, don't say a word, I know you can! ^^ >> What can I do? Sorry my english is pretty limited I guess. |

>> Is this even secret or what?
I was wondering that. Piotr Konieczny is the only other person I could find who's mentioned it online. |

I guess the Googlers are going unlimited then... (since they already have 1 TB)
Google Translate: <<According to we have been able to read in “google.dirson.comâ€, for some hours some propietary lucky people of Gmail accounts, according to seems first in being created, are observing brutales increases in the capacity of its mailboxes.>>
That page in Spanish links to another page (citing it is the original source), which links to http://google.dirson.com ...
<<Because Unlimited always have Fair Use Policies>> So would 1 TB. |

1TB is 1TB. Unlimited has a limit at some point. Even if it is all the storage in the world its still a limit. So Yahoo! has to chooses the limit in their Fair Use Policy. A 1TB account couldnt in a fair use policy limit your account to 500GB. Its against the law

I see your point James. Basically, in reality, 1TB is probably better than unlimited storage since "unlimited" could easily mean 500GB when you check the fair use policy.
I have "unlimited" Internet bandwidth on my mobile phone, yet it's capped at 2GB. |

"Is this even secret or what?" > yes and no As I said, a spokeman of public French TV has said that Eric Schmidt will be in Paris to announce Youtube in Europe. But I think Google never allowed him to spread this information.
Tony in Paris, wow :-) |

But why would google choose to announce 1 tb gmail in paris, lovely though paris is? |
Tony Ruscoe ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 18 years ago # |
Simply because that's where they're holding their press day this year. |
James Xuan ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 18 years ago # |
zim I understand now! Yes I can fill up my inbox fast but I'm not sure about 1TB though!

I asked Miguel of Dirson.com, and he says that though he's been mentioned in relation to this rumor, he actually didn't post anything about it!
(The last time he mentioned a terrabyte of Gmail storage was in 2004. http://google.dirson.com/post/0501/) |
