New Google Maps Street View Cities

Before, around December 2007 (21 street view icons in sight here)

Today (30 street view icons in sight here)

Google Maps rarely loads for me so I can’t see it on this computer*, but the Google Earth Blog reports that several new cities have received Street View imagery. New cities featuring these panoramic photos, taken with cam-equipped vans cruising the city, include:

To see the pics, click the Street View button on top and zoom in onto the respective cities. If you have a good photo find please post the screenshot/ URL in the comments!

[Thanks Callum, TomHTML and Frank Taylor!]

*It’s the chessboard bug I mentioned before, though it’s more of a gray ocean thing these days. Picasa Web Albums also rarely loads photos. Maybe it’s something in connection with my German provider, T-Online. Loading Maps in BrowserPool works fine.

Update: Google now blogged on this too. Places they mention which aren’t mentioned above:

  • Albany and Schenectady, NY
  • Milwaukee, WI
  • Research Triangle Park (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill), NC
