Google Clustering [Edit: And now, Google Health!]Nico | Saturday, May 6, 2006 18 years ago • 22,927 views |
I have not seen this behavior before. A query for "tired" shows option to refine the results. The new behavior can be seen here: http://nico.nfshost.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/search.htm |
Corsin Camichel | 18 years ago # |
hmm and a click on it shows "tired more:condition_symptoms". So is "more:" another new option? |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
Weird
Thanks Nico
Who can find the "cookie code" in the HTML source code of this page ? Thanks |
Nico | 18 years ago # |
Try this database: http://64.233.167.99/search?q=tired |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
It doesn't work it's based on cookie code ;-) (do a copy & paste here of "google.com" cookie ^^) |

I tried this again through a proxy server and it didn't show the options. I think it might be based on your ip address. |
dpneal | 18 years ago # |
I see the options. This seems a very good feature. Why is the more:' not documented in the Google operators page? |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
You see that ? Even if I enter this : javascript:document.cookie="PREF=ID=3a5ce84b5cab95 1a:TM=1146930 065:LM=11469300 65:S=pH4p5rvm3VUEq trd;path=/;domain=.google.com" it doesn't work.
if you have more screenshots... thx! |
Nico | 18 years ago # |
Here is another interesting screenshot: http://nico.nfshost.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/05/google%20new.png Google is labeling websites. |
dpneal | 18 years ago # |
Here's a screenshot.... http://dpneal.blogspot.com/2005/06/showing-google-clustering.html (sorry the date is set in the past, but I didn't want it in the lastest part of my photo blog) |
dpneal | 18 years ago # |
you beat me to it nico! :) |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
oh yes it works for me now! thanks guy! |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
it's seems to be google health! try [flu] |
dpneal | 18 years ago # |
yeah i was just thinking that too. I was expecting a standalone program for google health. But this looks good. Looks like an extension of Google base though. Maybe they imported all the health data to a private version of Google base, and are now using that to provide the results for Google Health. What do you think? |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
I really think it's GOOGLE HEALTH (-: http://www.zorgloob.com/2006/05/google-fait-dans-le-cluster-et-le.asp |
Sam Davyson | 18 years ago # |
Tom / Dan I think you are right. It seems very much to be Google Health.
Asthma: http://64.233.167.99/search?q=asthma
Athletes Foot: http://64.233.167.99/search?hl=en&lr=&q=athletes+foot&btnG=Search
Headache: http://64.233.167.99/search?hl=en&lr=&q=headache&btnG=Search
So do you think Google Health will be OneBox? |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
Yes I think but design is bad... I hoped AJAX and images and a doctor who you can ask medical questions : nothing.
And for Google, if you don't speak english : "ill? You can die, we don't care about it" ^^ |
dpneal | 18 years ago # |
Yeah I think it is too. Though this may only be part of it, the OneBox part. I reckon there will be a standalone product too. Ajaxy etc.. And like News/Groups/Finance etc they will include this onebox info in the search results when triggered by keywords. |
TOMHTML | 18 years ago # |
It's the variable "cx=disease_for_patients" which made all. I would like to want what means "cx" and if this variable can take others values... |
Stephen | 18 years ago # |
Wow, I like how almost all of Google's Services tie back to their main search page. |
or | 18 years ago # |
Seems to be a bit more than the one-box. If you look on the labeled results you will see "by some institution" – click on that and it takes you to a profile page that right now gives an error message such as http://www.google.com/coop/profile?user=002279906532590700777 . We will definately be finding out more soon. |

Is the limit by forum thing new? I've never seen Google offer to only shows results that come from forums before. I thought that their bot had trouble with forums in general because of the login/register issue on most forums. |
Philipp Lenssen | 18 years ago # |
The following were all showing the Health onebox (I tried using the cx=disease_for_patients parameter):
chest pain blindness impotence bad breath baldness v1agra insomnia autism drugs |

http://www.google.com/health redirects to google advertising |
/pd | 18 years ago # |
nice..caleb, the url is activate, this means only re-direction is required when luanched!! |
Sam Davyson | 18 years ago # |
http://health.google.com is not active though. |
Tony Ruscoe | 18 years ago # |
Well, http://www.google.com/health has been around since December 2003 [*], so I don't really think that means much. It apparently used to redirect to http://services.google.com/marketing/stats/health (both of which now redirect to the http://www.google.com/ads page).

Elias KAI | 18 years ago # |
Hi, why did you close the Replies function philipp ?
Well , I think you were so active guys this week end, and I think on the 10th of may , there is some release of google health, let s see... |
Philipp Lenssen | 18 years ago # |
Elias, I closed the replies on the other thread so that this discussion thread wouldn't be split up in two.
And yep, doesn't work here anymore either... |
