Hé hé, funny ;) It's only because there is a website intitled like that : pleasebangmywife.com |
Sohil | 17 years ago # |
Also Works in Firefox 2 Search bar. |
Inferno | 17 years ago # |
That's so ....... "awe" |
Ionut Alex. Chitu | 17 years ago # |
awe = A mixed emotion of reverence, respect, dread, and wonder inspired by authority, genius, great beauty, sublimity, or might
Beautiful word. |

ok what I really found intriguing here is "ple" as the seed
also suggested "pleasant holidays" with 1,280,000 results where as "please bang my wife" had only 737,000 results... so why would not google "suggest" the search term with the highest results first ??
After all both terms after the seed "ple" still have the next alpha "a" .. so as concatation takes place, SHOULD not the term with the highest results take proceedence ??
does not that make sense ?? |

Maybe they measure the trend, not the quantity of searches. |
/pd | 17 years ago # |
hold on a second Inout.. what do you mean measure the "trend" ??
So then I am forced to ask--Is google suggest returning trend based data and if so, then the most picked term for "ple" was "please bag my wife" ??
I kinda think that would strange espeically with the varianet with a seed of "ple"!!

Ionut, isn't the trend the same as the quantity of searches? It's a matter of sorting based on quantity of searches versus sorting based on quantity of results.
On an unrelated note, it looks like Google Trends is down:
"We're sorry. Google Trends is currently undergoing network maintenence and should be available again in a few hours.
We appreciate your patience.
If this problem keeps happening, please email labs+trendsgoogle.com and mention this error message and the query that caused it. " |

Strange. What do you say about this?

Maybe it really is the most popular search term starting with "ple" since it is clear that it's not the term with the most results. |
Sohil | 17 years ago # |
Why did u enter ple anyway Ionut ? ;) |

Sohil, see: http://blogoscoped.com/forum/64280.html#id64328
<< I use FF 2 and it has Suggest built-in. I use it to check for different English words. I was typing "pleading", and the suggestions draw my attention. >> |

. o O (Damn. Ionut was 4 seconds quicker than me!) |
/pd | 17 years ago # |
thats so funny... "pleading", is the "intention" term. Yes, google has not figured out even one result within suggestlist that even closely matches to the "intention" term!!
I belive there should be a method that classifies a search item, in terms of results and intentions. This will make suggest and SERP a better exprience.

It's funny what you can do with Google :) |

(I was trying to do this yesterday but Google Trends was down for maintenance – as Niraj noted – but anyway...)
It would seem that Google Suggest might not necessarily return suggestions in order of how many times they're search for. Using the first four expressions from Ionut's first screenshot above and also his intended word, the order given by Google Suggest was this:
1. please bang my wife 2. plextor 3. pleurisy 4. plentyoffish 5. pleading
However, Google Trends returns this (for the last three months or so, at least):
1. plentyoffish 2. plextor 3. please bang my wife 4. pleurisy 5. pleading
http://www.google.com/trends?q=please+bang+my+wife%2C+plextor%2C+pleurisy%2C+plentyoffish%2C+pleading
(Even going back longer, [please bang my wife] has never been more popular than [plextor].)
So, how does Google Suggest decide which what to suggest? |
Ionut Alex. Chitu | 17 years ago # |
Maybe a combination of the number of searches for the last n days, the growth rate for the last m days and other factors. |
Sohil | 17 years ago # |
Maybe Growth Rate like Alex said + No. of Clicks on the Search Results + No. of Clicks on Ads |

or maybe google check's your browsing history and suggests a site based on your previous preferences lol |
