A "Rebang" sound to me like a Google Pipe coming soon. |

I think it has something to do with history, search history, replaying your history... |
pokemo | 17 years ago # |
I think it is something to do with the existing google service. |

When i visite google.com/rebang, it redirects to http://www.google.com/univ/home, saying:
Welcome to Google's university search of University of Lethbridge. Type what you want to find in the search box above.

Rebang.com is a site for a 3d design company. I doubt their related, buy hey, maybe Google bought another startup for one reason or another. |

could be a trap for misbehaving robot spiders.

"If you're considering building a 3D interface – a Metaverse – then acquiring an app like SketchUp, letting people hook into your 3D app, and linking that thing to a kind of 3D Adsense (imagine the possibilities!) makes sense because then the whole thing has a means for funding its own growth. It's a little like Second Life, only more open, more tied to the 2D Net, more tied to real world businesses (and their real locations) and more mainstream."

Not at all, Google is aiming to recreate the big bang again… |

Bwaje's right. With the rapid rate of building of increasingly large datacenters Google is anticipating the weight of their facilities to be so great that not only will the surface of the earth be unable to support them but we might be looking at a coming black hole or singularity. |

Interesting. Judging from the ReBang blog, the guy has an interest in virtual reality games like Second Life, the idea of a "Metaverse", Google Earth, Google Earth games and so on... sounds a bit like the whole speculation circling around Niniane Wang's project. http://blog.rebang.com/ |

Cheers all. Couldn't help but notice the hits.
For the record, reBang is the name of my consulting business and was chosen some years back (~1999) on the assumption that we'd effectively start replicating the real world and creating virtual mirrors (repeat Big Bang), and that virtual objects would themselves be fabricated using new rapid manufacturing technologies. That's the short of it; don't want to bore you with the details (which I'll do if I keep typing). |

csven: So – you have any connection to Google, or is this just pure coincidence? |
csven | 17 years ago # |
No connection. Although I do find this curious. A couple of years ago I was approached twice by MS for reasons I don't know. |
