Do you think it's unlikely Philipp? Have you got any contacts in the Google camp that you could ask?

Sam Davyson [PersonRank 10]

I thought the name that they were going for now was Google Purchases. Anyway we will see. I am not sure how they can keep up their line that they are "comitted to search" with such a release.

Good idea – I'll check.

OK, if the official Google Press contact replies I'll update here – unfortunately I have no Google inside source sharing advance news with me (though I have some contacts at Google they're not sharing anything secretive). Then again, that adds an extra thrill to the hunt for Google news... :)

I think it would be silly not to add it too Google Purchases. If the make it another product people aren't going to remember all these different google services. Make it easy for users, have one payment service.

can Tony R ples do his little magic to figure out the combo's of a Plusiable URL ?? :)-

Yeah you're right Philipp, it does make it more exciting trying to hunt for the real truth :)

Here's Google's statement regarding a GBuy release in June:

"Billing and payments have historically been a part of Google's advertising programs and online services. As we've previously announced, we offer users the ability to buy items on Google Base and at the Google Store as well as pay for services like Google AdWords, Google Video and Google Earth. We have nothing specific to announce at this time."

Caleb: I find the Google Store to have a really bad UI. If I stumbled across it I would assume that it was unofficial given the way it is so cranky. It has the feel that it was last updated in 2003.

I doubt they have their new system in there.

>> we offer users the ability to buy items on Google Base and at the Google Store as well as pay for services like Google AdWords, Google Video and Google Earth. >>

No mention of Adsense ?!!

Would that be evil if they didn't allow you to use Adsense money to purchase on either Base, Store, Video, or Earth ?

As for the future service name, I bet it's not Google Purchases since it doesn't sound like GBuy to eBay.

Ohh! I almost forgot the very most important, I got my badge now in Blogoscoped! Like it a lot :-) Thanks Philipp.

/pd: when visiting http://purchases.google.com i was redirected to my Google Base "payout" feature which was kinda odd.

GBuy is a horrible sounding name..

Google Purchases might only have been a temporary unbranded name though

dpneal [PersonRank 10]

This article has some different evidence...
http://blogs.zdnet.com/micro-markets/index.php?p=105

Looks like it may only be adding into AdWords, like a one click advert purchase. But then the forbes article hints at more than this.

GBuy would be a great way to simplify the Buying Process. I've tried the Google Account, its great, simple and intuitive. Can't wait..

/pd..
found another URL that leads to Google Accounts..:
http://www.google.com/purchases

am i becoming Tony?! :P

This system will probably work with Google Video, Froogle/google base, Google Shop and Google Music. And maybe even with Adsense and Adwords. And if I know google they will probably make sure you can even earn and spend money without any bank-transactions. You will probably be able to buy things with your adsense profit :P

Josh : thats is really odd.. all these URL normally pointed to the last footprint (pic) that I posted and that leads into google strore!!

http://purchases.google.com
http://purchase.google.com
http://google.com/purchases
http://google.com/purchase

What I am seeing is a fork happening. This certainly indicates something is up for sure.

purchase.google.com leads to Google.com.

same thing was with Google Calendar(calendar.google.com) before it has been launched, it led to Google.com

and this URL:
google.com/purchase

Leads to this URL:
http://www.google.com/univ/purchase

anoyone else gets this domain? (http://www.google.com/univ/purchase)

So everyone's saying June 28...

/pd [PersonRank 10]

yes, I think it makes sense, as the month end cut off date for corporate books will be June 27th.

Rememeber that anything to do with $$$ service, its best to have a cut off and roll in date.

I've had it for a while now, it's pretty nice, kinda confusing, the payout layout, hopefully they improve that, plus if you have a negative balance after you do like a refund of something, they take over 1 month to retrive your funds from your account, you can't automatically fund your account, from what i've experienced thus far

Josue R. [PersonRank 10]

J: i've had it too... but the indepth look of GBuy is to be more like PayPal which would allow people transfer and request funds from and to each other.... but from what i know is that Payout feature does not allow this and hopefully Google Purchases service will allow us to do so.

Google Base – Payout:
"You have not yet charged any sales or received any payouts"

Check out these URL:
https://purchases.google.com/support --- support info page
https://purchases.google.com/tester --- first Login ... then weird Error page:

"Error
My Account > Purchase History > Error

Oops!
The page you requested could not be found. Please check the page you used to reach this page."

Other related hidden URL:

http://eval.google.com/tester ---- redirects to Google Manage Account page
http://eval.google.com --- redirects to Google homepage

Remember, you must have at least one payment method in your Google Account in order to make purchases or receive refunds.

PL : this thread format needs fixing.. :)-
